The big charity concert event today in Central Park, was rained out. The star studded concert was to feature artists such as Taylor Swift, Natasha Bedingfield, LL Cool J, Debbie Harry and Tony Bennett, and appearances from Whoopi Goldberg, Zach Braff and New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg.
At first the concert was delayed over two hours due to the sweltering temperatures. Later, rain downpours and lightening convinced the promoters to cancel the event entirely.
The concert was to raise funds for the Robin Hood Foundation, a charity aimed at improving poverty in the Big Apple. Its a shame. It would have been an interesting concert for a great cause.

Swift, who won the fan-voted entertainer of the year award at the Academy of Country Music Awards earlier this year, joined the show via live video uplink from Wisconsin where she’s on tour.
“I wish I could be there, but I’m hanging out with 15,000 of my closest friends in Milwaukee,” Swift said as crowds of fans screamed in the background.

Taylors Dress Rehearsal raises $750,000 for Tornado Victims.
Taylor opened her “Speak Now Tour” dress rehearsal to fans, and the sales of the tickets were given to victims of the recent deadly tornados in the Southeast.
It was called “Speak Now, Help Now” and it took place on May 21 at Bridgestone Arena in Nasville.The rehearsal was streamed online and gave fans all over the world, a taste of Taylors new Speak Now concert show. During the stream, information was given on how fans could help these victims.
This campaign raised of $750,000 which was given to Tornado victims.
